THE JOY OF MOTHERHOOD
I
am just an ordinary woman with an extraordinary family. I was a shy and sensitive little girl, never
known among the gifted or talented. My
one claim to joy was my birth on May Day, the most beautiful day of the year! I was born in Georgia at the end of the world's
most costly and violent war. My angel
parents called me their Georgia
Girl. I come from the most remarkable
ancestors. When I gathered their histories
I was awed by their incredible strength and courage. Perhaps my ancestors are the reason I am part
of these amazing women!
I grew
up surrounded by brothers, in a boys
world, not too sure of my role as a
girl. I married and gave birth to seven amazing, gifted and talented children: four beautiful daughters and three sweet and
sensitive boys who brought three more beautiful, gifted and talented daughters
to my life!
Out of all these daughters come a multitude of beautiful, gifted and talented, grandchildren, 18 girls and 16 boys. Our posterity continues to increase at a rapid rate as more and more beautiful babies arrive. I have beautiful and talented granddaughters of all ages and stages who sing and dance with joy! Whether they are attending college or planning a mission they light up every room they enter! I am surrounded by joyful young women, not only daughters and granddaughters, but beautiful gifted and talented nieces!
I am amazed as I watch these joyful young women plan for their new arrivals, with such happiness and delight in their expanding tummies that are jumping with active new life. In a world where it’s not fashionable to have babies or be a mother, these young women joyfully claim their right to bear and raise children. These remarkable young women have the greatest joy bringing new life into a world that is no longer children friendly. Their courage and strength astound me. They have no fear of childbirth but look forward with great anticipation and joy to giving birth, in the most natural way possible. They carry their unborn babies with pride and excitement about this joyful event called birth!
These remarkable young women are the happiest and best mommies I ever saw as they gather their chicks
around them delighting in the joyful world of
children. Careers and worldly aspirations have no claim on their
devotions. They are a light set on a
hill to all the women of the world, a pure example of noble, virtuous and
joyful womanhood! Their worth is
far above rubies!
I am so very happy and proud to be a small part of their lives and their joy! They make Mothers Day the happiest of days for me!
